Have you ever been down and gotten lucky enough for someone to recognize that you needed a lift?
Recently, Hubby discovered a calf that was stuck in a hole. He rescued the poor guy from a situation where the calf couldn’t see a way out.
The crazy thing about Hubby finding this calf was that if he hadn’t paid attention to the entire herd, he would not have noticed the mama cow off by herself. Hubby knew she had a calf and it was odd for her to be alone.
When he sought out the cow, he discovered the hole AND the problem.

Walking through the field the fallen calf could not be seen. It was not until Hubby investigated the lonely mama’s situation that he recognized the cause of her duress hidden by the tall grass around the hole.
(The orange arrow marks the calf’s location.)
Because he took the time to see what was wrong, Hubby was able to lift the calf from the hole and reunite the mama with her baby. He found a way to relieve their stress and help resolve their problem.
How are you at recognizing there is a hole in someone’s day?
Sometimes after I give people a hug at the grocery store or at school, they tell me how much they needed that hug. Other times, I will send a silly meme to a friend and they reply, “Thank you! I needed a laugh.” When I notice someone with a defeated look on their face or body language that screams, “I feel like a failure,” I always try to boost their esteem with a kind word or checking in to see if there is a way to help.
The Intentergy challenge for today is to keep an eye out for those who are stuck in an emotional hole or who are feeling lost and need to get past their troubles in a healthy and supported way. I encourage you to put energy into identifying approaches that help people make progress where they don’t see possibility and heal wounds that feel too deep to repair. By recognizing those holes on purpose, you are bound to help in ways you never saw before.

P.S. The calf could have just turned around and walked out of the hole through the dry creek, but he was too focused on his mama at the edge of the hole. Sometimes the solution is right behind us, but in this case, the answer showed up on a four-wheeler. God bless farmers.
