Aren’t we all allergic to poison?
In “The Secret of Life of Pets” Max tries to avoid a bite from a one-fanged python by letting the other animals know he is allergic to poison.
This scene makes me laugh (really hard) every time.
The crazy thing is…we are all allergic to poison, but it seems we are way too willing to allow poison into our lives.
Poison comes in many forms. Negativity, guilt, shame, fear, and grudges are toxic to our happiness. Some suffer toxic relationships. There are physical poisons too, such as drugs, alcohol, and unhealthy foods. The crazy thing is we knowingly ingest that bad stuff. I try really hard to avoid the physical poisons. Drugs are something I have never done. But boy, do I like wine, chocolate, and fried chicken. (Hopefully my consumption of these is not too bad for me.)
When I was a kid, my mom put Mr. Yuk stickers on any products that were poisonous. That ugly, green guy told us to stay away or at least make sure we didn’t eat whatever yucky stuff was in those packages. Why don’t we have Mr. Yuk stickers for the emotional poisons in our lives?
I have a friend that is in a toxic relationship. I would LOVE to walk up and put a Mr. Yuk sticker on their toxic partner. When I see people using hurtful words, I would really like to put a Mr. Yuk sticker on their mouths. (Not in a mean way, just in a way that stops the hurtful words.) There are so many television shows and posts on the internet that I would enjoy labeling with Mr. Yuk. Seriously, why aren’t there Mr. Yuk stickers for everything negative in life.
Eliminating poisonous yuck is your Intentergy challenge for today.
Remove or avoid the things that you know are bad for you. Help someone you know that has let poison into their life and is having trouble getting away from it.
For safety sake, go ahead and put Mr. Yuk stickers on the poisonous products in your house. You never know when you could save a life with one those little labels.
Most importantly remember we all have poisons in our lives. Don’t judge those that allow their poisons to pull them down. Be the person who lifts them up and away from those toxins.
Be the treatment for the toxic influences of life. Be the antivenom for negative poisons. Kill the pain of guilt, hatred, and discrimination with kindness.
After all aren’t we all allergic to poison?

P.S. The number for the National Poison Control Center is 1-800-222-1222. Call for Mr. Yuk stickers or in the event of an actual poison emergency.
P.P.S. “The Secret Lives of Pets” is a great cure for the effects of negativity poisoning. Laughter is powerful medicine.

Great article! I had forgotten about those Yuk stickers.
I’ve printed and put one on all the cookies, ice cream and anything else in my house that tastes good just to be safe.
I’ve also put a stash in my pocket should I encounter rude people today. They will be Yuk’d.

Thank you! I hope you don’t have to dig into your Yuk sticker stash today 😉 Better safe than sorry with cookies and ice cream. You should probably send them our way so that I may test them for you.
Fantastic idea! X
