Refrigerator Fancy

Do you consider yourself to be fancy?

Do you include your appliances in your fancifulness?

At dinner one night, my children and husband were making light of the fact that I was drinking a glass of red wine with my steak. They continued teasing me about my “fancy” wine glass and my love for planning, preparing, and documenting good meals. (I’m not really very fancy, but I guess they have to have something to tease me about.)

As the ribbing continued about my fanciful ways, my son said, “Just look at your refrigerator.”

We all stopped.

What did the fridge have to do with me being “fancy”?

My sweet boy was searching for something to back up the argument for my “fancy” status when his eyes landed on our stainless steel, side-by-side refrigerator.

It has an ice maker, a water/ice dispenser, and keeps food cold. As far as refrigerators go, I wouldn’t consider it too extravagant, but when I pondered all the possibilities that fridge provides, it is pretty darn nice. Forget the fact that it is covered in photos, reminders, grocery lists, and homework. Ignore the scratches and food smudges. Don’t even think about the dust bunnies underneath and behind it. That refrigerator really is something of a wonder and helps my family have well-preserved food and chilled, fresh beverages. So, yeah, I guess my fridge makes me “fancy.”

Today, I challenge you to consider what makes your life “fancy.” If might be an appliance or piece of furniture. Maybe it’s your clothes or utilities that make your home comfortable. Perhaps it’s your vehicle or the outside space surrounding where you live. “Fancy” doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I think “fancy” could mean that your are fortunate or blessed. Let your Intentergy guide you to find the grandeur in what’s going on around your or the luxury in where you live. Just look at my refrigerator, and you can easily find ways to be “fancy.”

P.S. Do not look inside my fridge. We may have a few things that are past the “fancy” phase in there.

      1. When we moved to our farm in 1967 the old old “icebox” was left in the house by the previous owner (Elmer LeClaire). When we finally got a new one, we could get EVERYTHING from the old icebox into the DOOR of the new one. I thought that was pretty cool. We’re pretty spoiled aren’t we???

  1. Fancy! I love it! We can all be as fancy in our own ways. I like your fridge too but I really love your fancy ice maker. ❤️
